With an average length of service of 20.29 years M2’s engineers are all highly experienced – indeed when their years as engineers are added together they’ve notched up 1,464 between them! But it’s not just the length of time that they’ve been doing the job that helps our engineer team offer industry leading SLAs across national, multi-vendor fleets, it’s also because they’re so highly trained.
M2 currently has a team of directly employed engineers spread nationally, with a walking team based in London and the remainder spread across the UK to meet customer need. As a leading independent M2 is vendor neutral and so that means that all our engineers are trained and accredited across each of the OEMs. M2 is certified as a Ricoh Prestige Partner, an HP Platinum Partner, a Canon European Premier Partner and a Xerox Authorised Service Provider and maintaining these relies upon every one of our engineers being trained and accredited to the highest standards that these OEMs require.
Every new engineer recruit to M2 will initially complete the fundamental training required by each of the OEMs before progressing to product specific training and this training can be either web based or face to face in one of the OEM training centres. To attain the fundamental levels of training every engineer will have passed over 35 individual exams – once the fundamental training is complete then there are numerous further courses to complete and each one is examined before the qualification is attained. Even when the qualifications have been awarded engineers undertake continual electives to keep them up to date with new technologies and new products.
Alongside this each engineer undertakes a comprehensive Health and Safety certification programme including manual handling, electrical safety for example and these courses are backed by IOSH for managing safely and ROSPA for the prevention of accidents.
Typically each engineer will complete at least 15 days training a year – often more, and this is spread throughout the year.
