Over 70 people attended the 2nd annual ‘Mulvey Cup Tournament’ charity golf and BBQ in September this year at The Mere in memory of Steve Mulvey who passed away in 2016 following a brief fight with cancer.  Friends, family and colleagues from M2, HP, Canon, Ricoh, Nuance and SCC raised over £7,600 taking the total raised to date in aid of Cancer Research from M2’s Mulvey Cup days to almost £18,000.

Joining David to present the cheque were colleagues Juliet Frost, Joe Werner, Helen Flannery, Sasha Rudd, Hannah Donnellan and Rikki Bhalla – all members of the organising team for the 2017 ‘M2 Mulvey Cup Tournament’ charity golf and BBQ event.

David Knowles explained:

“We set this year’s target at a realistic £6,000, knowing we were not going to eclipse the £10,000 raised in 2016. Once again we were overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of our colleagues and support of our sponsors in helping us raise £7,623 to date. Additionally, this year we are running the ‘Mulvey Booster’ to top up our fundraising ambitions with highest bids winning a full luxury hospitality rugby package to Sale Sharks vs Saracens at the AJ Bell Stadium in February next year.

“The M2 Board were the main event sponsors.  In addition our business partners Ricoh, Canon, Nuance and HP, along with our parent company SCC all supported our fundraising drive. They, and some of our key customers donated prizes for the Raffle and the e-Auction, both of which drive massive contributions to the fundraising total.”

John Taylor, CEO at M2 said:

“Raising in excess of £17,500 in 18 months for Cancer Research is a great achievement and I’d like to thank David and his organising committee, our sponsors and indeed all my colleagues at M2 who have made this possible.  We intend to repeat this event annually, with a Mulvey Booster in February, so that our colleagues, our customers and our partners can join together to remember Steve, celebrate his life and continue fundraising in his memory.

“M2 has a great tradition in actively supporting worthy causes and, in addition to Cancer Research, we’ve also recently raised money for and donated to our other chosen charities Macmillan Cancer support and the Teenage Cancer Trust.”
